Funeral services for Nativida E. "Frankie" Martinez, 64, of Bryan are scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville, with Rev. Irvin Huckaby officiating and Rev. Joel Withem assisting. Interment will follow at the Mexican Cemetery in Somerville under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Homes. A visitation is set for Monday, July 19, 2010 all day with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Mr. Martinez passed away July 17, 2010, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Carlos Gonzales, Larry martinez, Ricky Gonzales, Harry Evans, Jerry Burris, and Author Carr. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Bell and Joey Antu.

Frankie was born September 8, 1945 in Yorktown, Texas, to Joe and Faustina Martinez. Frankie loved to spend time working on automobiles and was a devoted member of The After The Rain Church in Bryan, Texas. He enjoyed spending time studying the bible. He loved watching football and spending time with his kids, and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys.

Frankie is survived by sons; Christopher Martinez of Somerville, Brian Martinez of Ohio, brothers; Leno Martinez of Lockhart, Don Martinez of Monterey, Mexico, Larry Martinez of Somerville, Senon Martinez of Lyons, sisters; Frances Wade of Brenham, Stefana Gonzalez of El Campo, and Mary Gonzalez of Lyons.

Frankie was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother; Marie Flores, brothers; Placado, Shorty, Clemente, and Victor Martinez, nephew; David Gonzalez, and aunt; Anita Casarez.
